University of Tartu Youth Academy invites international students, who are currently studying in Estonian universities, to ‘English with Confidence’ language course.
The main purpose of the programme is to enhance the students’ communication skills. The course brings together international students and Estonian upper secondary school students to promote intercultural exchange and provide students with opportunities to practice their English in an informal setting.
Participation is free of charge and by the end of the course, students will students will receive a certificate from the University of Tartu.
Courses will take place every Monday at the Youth Academy (Uppsala 10, Tartu), starting from 13th of March 2023 and ending on 29th of May 2023. Meetings will be done in two groups: earlier at 4:30–6:00 PM and later at 6:15–7:45 PM.
During the registration process, students can choose their preferred time. Be quick and register now as there are only 4 places available for international students.
‘English with Confidence’ language course is conducted by University of Tartu student Gleb Kudrin.
Each lesson is structured in a way that there is:
- a general topic of discussion (e.g. environmental protection, career etc.);
- a technical topic contributing to the development of oral language (e.g. idioms, pronunciation, colloquial language etc.).
By the end of the course the students will be able to:
- Enjoy applying English in their everyday life;
- Hold lengthy conversations in English with more ease and confidence;
- Express themselves more vividly and convincingly in English;
- Use more colourful language;
- Tell apart the most common English accents;
- Understand the principles of some more advanced grammar rules;
- Correctly pronounce words and their combinations without hesitation;
- Find and use literature for studying English more easily.

The finals of the 71st Estonian Chemistry Olympiad took place at the University of Tartu's Chemicum on March 16-17. This year, 97 students from grades 9 to 12 competed against each other.
