Science Task Force at Tartu Observatory also in summer 2016!

Tartu Observatory in cooperation with the Tartu Hansa Rotary and University of Tartu Youth Academy announce that applications are now open for the summer camp Science Task Force held in July - August 2016.

The Youth Development Fund of the Tartu Hansa Rotary Club will award up to five participants of the Science Task Force a 600-euro fellowship. The fellowship is meant to cover the expenses related to participation in the program, for example, the cost of food and accommodation.

During the summer of 2015, participants of the Science Task Force were building a Helmholtz cage – a device for producing a region of nearly uniform magnetic field that helps test the behaviour of nanosatellites and components in a magnetic field. This summer, participants will be challenged to contribute to the development of satellite ESTCube-2.

The preferred applicants are 9th to 12th grade students or fresh graduates of gymnasium who can demonstrate high motivation for taking part in the Estonian Student Satellite Program for two months in the summer. A prerequisite for applying is very good English language skills.

For applying, an application and a motivation letter (up to one A4) must be sent to the email address teadusmalev2016@to.ee by the deadline 25.04.2016. In the motivation letter, previous accomplishments in the field of physical sciences can be mentioned (e.g. participation in Olympiads, the Rakett 69 TV show, grades in school for physics, mathematics etc.).

For additional information about the application process and the Science Task Force, questions can be sent to teadusmalev2016@to.ee.
