From May 4th to May 6th, the Baltic Chemistry Olympiad took place in Estonia. Lithuanian student Justas Miliauskas secured the first place. Member of the Estonian team, Kaarel Toomet, ranked 6th.
The finals of the 71st Estonian Chemistry Olympiad took place at the University of Tartu's Chemicum on March 16-17. This year, 97 students from grades 9 to 12 competed against each other.
The Association of Estonian Adult Educators Andras gave the Tartu county education deed award of the year to the UT Tartu Observatory and the European Space Education Resource Office (ESERO) Estonia’s continuing education course for teachers “United by Space”. The best adult educators of Tartu county 2023 were awarded at the appreciation event for the educators of the city and county of Tartu in the University of Tartu assembly hall on 28 September.

This seems to be what politicians from the Conservative People’s Party of Estonia (EKRE) have asked. As an answer, they have proposed a draft legislation aiming to prevent young people from Ukraine, Georgia, Russia or another non-EU country from coming here to study unless they pay for their studies. The draft legislation turned up at the beginning of September, without any analysis or legislative intent, without notifying the parties concerned or coordinating the draft with them.
To recover from the extraordinary situation that hit the world in spring, a summer holiday is vital for all of us. However, we must remember to exercise caution when returning to work to make sure our life at the university and in the country as a whole could continue as normally as possible.
At the the Astronomy Open Competition held on April 15, Tallinn Secondary School of Science pupils Martin Rahe and Jarl Patrick Paide won the first prizes.
The competition took place for the 14th time. Pupils from class 8 to 12 had to solve tasks about Moon observation, gravity waves, the brightness of double stars, and more. The pupils were expected to have substantive knowledge in order to solve the theoretical tasks.
